IWBP / Boise MTB Festival Joint Overnighter
Seventeen riders, including 6 brave men, joined us for this super fun sub-24-hour bikepacking trip. We were able to see some of the Bogus Basin area’s best trails, ranging from tame to technical, and from famous to nearly unknown.
We rode about 28 miles, mostly on singletrack, with just over 4000 feet of climbing. More information on the route can be found here.
Day 1
We started Friday evening at Bogus Basin and had a rowdy good time on Eastside, Sinker Creek, Mr. Big, and Freddy’s Stack Rock Connector. This group handled fully loaded shredding like pros! Then we shifted to the much less known area generally referred to as the Upper Dry Creek Headwaters.
Camp was at Ponderosa Pine Overlook. After a couple hours of dinner, swapping treats, chatting, and laughing together, we enjoyed perfect weather as soft breezes through the pine trees above lulled us off to sleep.
Day 2
We plunged deeper into the Headwaters, reaching the source of Dry Creek. We promised some bushwhacking here, and that turned out to be an understatement! “Just trust us, there is a trail in there somewhere” haha.
Then we took Ridge Road to ATM, one of the greatest trails in the region. Our final descent down a flow trail and back to the festival at Bogus was about as fast and fun as you can get on loaded bikes!
MTB Festival
Braydon Bringhurst and crew held another very successful event, and we are so grateful to have been invited to be a small part of it. This annual festival does so much good for our biking community, including very generously supporting:
SWIMBA
Bogus Basin Mountain Resort
Crank Queens
Boise Bicycle Project
And us, IWBP — thank you!!
It was especially great to end our little adventure right at the festival main stage, to cheers and a fun Q&A. This community is so so good to us ❤️
Great overnighter route —super fun riding fully loaded on single track!
